If you have an active dog and you want to spend quality time with it in an activity that you BOTH will enjoy, Flyball may just
be the answer.
Flyball is a relay race for dogs and their handlers. In an electronically timed race, two teams of four dogs compete against one another while racing in parallel lanes that are
spaced about twelve to sixteen feet apart. In order, each
dog
is released by its handler, crosses the start/finish line
and must jump over four hurdles spaced ten feet apart on
its way to the flyball box. When the dog hits the front of the flyball box, the box ejects a ball, which the dog must retrieve, bring back over the hurdles, and cross the finish line. A split second after the first (returning) dog crosses the finish line;
after passing the returning dog, the second dog crosses that
line on its way to the box and so on for each of the remaining dogs. The first team to have all four of its dogs go down and
back without errors, wins that heat. All four dogs have accomplished this in less than sixteen seconds. That’s FAST!
At All American Racers we encourage fair and humane
treatment of our canine athletes, which are first and foremost
our loving pets. We believe that fun and camaraderie is important and every effort is made to promote the social
aspect of the gathering for the handlers as well as our canine friends. Because of the flyball fun and social mix of the outing, both you and your canine companion will look forward to each and every practice session. Once trained you and your dog
could participate and compete in tournaments as ALL
AMERICAN RACERS. |
